Terry: For some it is difficult to write about oneself. I happen to fall into that category. Although a late bloomer as far as coming out goes, I was 24 and a quick study. I went through the “I’m here, I’m queer” phase and with that, participated in a plethora of “Pride” parades in all the major cities – Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Washington DC, Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta.

My career had a “Gay” spin to it as well. When living in Los Angeles, I worked in finance for a well known gay publication and in DC I was associated with another. My final swan song was event planning! Isn’t it ironic that my dream job was attached to a nightmare company!

As for traveling, I’ve done a fair amount. My first trip to Central America was back in ’85. Since then, I have covered most of the States as well as Mexico, England, Scotland and a good portion of Europe. Back in June of ’05 a friend of a some friends purchased a small Bed & Breakfast just outside San Ramon, Costa Rica and that was about all I remembered, until...June ’06 and the dream job / nightmare company came to a head and I decided that it was time for a change.  

My next step was to email them and see if I could come for a visit. After touring most of Costa Rica and thinking I could do this for a bit, culminated with a three-hour meeting about my relocation, running the Bed & Breakfast, and the creation of GaysinCostaRica.com while floating in the Caribbean Ocean 10 miles north of Panama!

I quickly came to the conclusion that this was how a business meeting should be held and that sealed the deal! At which time I returned to the states, sold all my STUFF and made the move. Now I have the best of both worlds Costa Rica, North America and ???
